The first day of school is chaos.

Breakfast is a riot but Alex somehow gets the teeming hoards toast and cereal before class. Erik has a free first period, so he runs around the grounds and showers before his first lesson of the day: Seventh Grade (or First Form, as Charles insists on calling it).

The eleven-year-olds are somewhat in awe of him as he draws a map of Europe on the blackboard and starts laying out the alliances preceding World War I. Charles has given him free rein to choose his curriculum and he has a penchant for modern history. There won't be much Mayflower in his teachings.

After a strong cup of coffee, Erik teaches the Eleventh Grade about the economics behind the Wall Street Crash. He doesn't have a chance to catch Charles at lunch before he meets with his House. These are the students that he's supposed to see for two hours per week and coach through their powers. He'd already decided that he would have the field behind the orchard for this purpose.

The House of Silver (he would not listen when Alex said that silver wasn't a real colour) is comprised of students from all years with differing abilities. After learning their names and what they believed of their power, Erik goes through some basic exercises with them, sounding out how much control they have and how at ease they are with their abilities.

"Mr Lensherr," one of the children - a boy called Tommy - asks nervously, "what can you do?"

Which leads to Erik twirling the satellite dish like a ballerina and several rounds of applause. Embarrassing. Also, exhausting. He's getting too old for this.

He doesn't see Charles at dinner either but he finally flees to the quiet of the drawing room, just resting his eyes for a second.

//I ate, I promise// Charles laughs, trusting that Erik is just continuing to tease.

//Drank tea, too//

//You're very attractive when you're drinking tea, Charles// Erik smiles against the skin of his lover's neck. //You close your eyes like a satisfied cat and lick your lips//

//Oh?// Charles laughs, amusement bubbling between them.

//Then I think, perhaps, I need another cup//

"I don't need tea to find you attractive," Erik murmurs, kissing a line up Charles' neck.

[guideshapelead]

//Well, maybe I just want tea// Charles counters, though the way he tilts his head back against Erik's shoulder makes it quite clear that he doesn't want his partner going anywhere.

[diecastking]

Erik clicks the door locked with a stray thought, as he runs his hand up under Charles' shirt.

//Maybe I should fetch you some then?// Erik asks, with no intention of moving.

[guideshapelead]

//Go on then// Charles answers back, lips twisting in a smirk. He knows Erik wouldn't leave this sofa for anything short of a life or death situation.

[diecastking]

Erik debates actually leaving the sofa to continue the ruse but decides Charles' collarbone is far more interesting.

//Metal tea service// he counters //That's what we need//

[guideshapelead]

Charles pulls a face at that, letting out a quiet noise of disapproval.

//That would make the tea taste awful//

[diecastking]

Erik captures Charles' lips to prevent further disapproval.

//But I could make it while kissing you//

[guideshapelead]

There's silence from Charles for a moment, concentration blown by the kiss, before he remembers that they're having a conversation.

//I think I can live without the tea//

Erik continues his dedicated conquest of Charles' mouth, trying to maintain his concentration on their link.

//Just so we're clear...you're choosing me over tea?//

[guideshapelead]

Charles is again silent for a while, only this time it's to tease.

//I think so. Just about//

[diecastking]

Erik smiles against Charles' lips.

//Now that we're clear, I think I'd best take you to bed. Before you change your mind//

[guideshapelead]

//Yes// Charles agrees. //I think that would be a good idea//.

[diecastking]

However, Erik then detaches himself (with great difficulty) and straightens out his rumpled shirt.

"Of course, you'll have to make your own way. Our house is full of impressionable young minds."

[guideshapelead]

"I can work with impressionable," Charles points out and, to prove himself, tricks Erik's eyes into seeing the walls decorated in vivid purple. Just for a second.

He can make people see what they want. Or... keep them from seeing things he wants to keep hidden.

[diecastking]

Erik stumbles, disorientated and already holding up his hand to summon protective metal to him.

//Ow// he says, his eyes hurting.

[guideshapelead]

"Leave the worrying about being seen to me," Charles smiles.

"We won't scandalise any children tonight."

[diecastking]

//So I may remove your clothes on the way up the stairs, hmm?// Erik grins and stoops beside the sofa, toying with the buttons of Charles' shirt.

[guideshapelead]

//So long as you pick them up after you// Charles chuckles, hand coming to rest over Erik's at his chest.

//I can't shield them all night//

[diecastking]

//I can think of better things to do with your nights//

Erik lifts Charles into his arms, close enough to taste, and carries him towards the door.

[guideshapelead]

Arms wrapping around Erik's neck, Charles lifts his torso so that he can meet Erik's lips in a kiss. How could he not, with the man's lips so close to his own?

[diecastking]

Erik kisses him, unlocking the door and barely noticing the children milling around the entrance hall as he blatantly kisses their headmaster.

//What are they all up to?// Charles frowns, concentrating on making sure they're not seen.

//Shouldn't they be in their dormitories by now?//
