In the end, they hardly needed persuading.

Erik strolled onto the base, broke into Stryker's office and greeted him as he returned from lunch. He explained that the school was under his protection and he was prepared to come to an agreement to avoid more of Stryker's men ending up in the infirmary - or worse.

There would be no more incursions. There would be no experiments. But Erik was prepared to eliminate the last of the Nazi threat from the planet in exchange for Stryker staying the Hell away from his family and the school.

The unspoken threat that Erik could reach Stryker and his son at any time of the day or night helped his cause, no doubt, but Stryker signed the deal without more than a phone call.

Erik would leave for Europe the next day. But, first, he had to say goodbye.

"Would you choose differently, had you known?"

Erik has to ask - he cannot leave it alone. And, this close to Charles, he would know the lie immediately. Even if he tries to hide from it.

"Erik..." Charles sighs, trying not to get too exasperated as he reaches for his lover's cheek.

"I just said, you cannot choose who you fall in love with. I would love you if you were a militant terrorist. I cannot stop my heart."

The truth is there in the warmth and affection that spills from his lover, no matter how frustrated he is at Erik's doubts.

"I cannot stop mine," Erik confesses. "I wish our parting wouldn't hurt so badly, Charles."

"I know," Charles sighs. "I know, Erik. But you have to do what you think is right. Everybody will come to understand that. In time."

"I wish I could go with your blessing," Erik says softly. "But don't lie to me, Charles. Never lie."

[guideshapelead]

"We are too connected for that," Charles knows. He will not lie, because he knows he will never be convincing.

"I understand your reasons. Can that be enough?"

It will have to be, and Erik decides he has had enough of words, of the sorrow of tomorrow.

It is tonight that he will live for. He kisses Charles, passionate and intent. He will carry this night with him until he is able to return home.

"May I?" Charles reaches for Erik's trousers again, hoping that his hands will not be batted away this time around.

Erik nods, not trusting his voice. He wants to give Charles everything he wants tonight, knowing he is going against his wishes in all other things.

Glad that he's not been rebuffed a second time, Charles doesn't take long to undo Erik's trousers and push them away down his body, as far as he can reach.

Erik repays the favour, kicking his own trousers away as he removes Charles'.

He is silent, in voice and mind, as he looks down at his lover, savouring every inch of skin and searing it into his memory.

//You're quiet// Charles pushes, not liking the silence. He will have enough of that after tomorrow, he does not need it tonight.

//I want this moment to last forever//

Erik has never been a romantic soul, but he now understands exactly what it means to desire time to stand still.

//It's a long time until morning// Charles points out, hands trailing over Erik's back.

//Let's not despair just yet//

Erik kisses Charles, burying the pain in sensation, in the feel of their minds and bodies touching in so many intimate places.

//Never despair//

//I love you// Charles thinks.

//So much.//

//Completely and utterly//

He gently touched Charles' face and kissed him again.

//What do you want?//

[guideshapelead]

//You, Erik// Charles pulled his lover close, kissing him desperately.

//All of you//

//Anything you want is yours//

Erik's fear and sorrow is turning to burning lust, rolling through his veins.

[guideshapelead]

Reaching down, Charles grasps at Erik's hips, pulling them flush against his own where his sensations are the greatest.

//I want to remember this. Tomorrow night, I want to feel this//

Erik is extremely turned on by how forward Charles is being, and he wants to see more. He clings to Charles, keeping their hips together as he rubs up against him.

//Yes. Gott, yes.//

Charles groans at the friction between them, arms moving back up Erik's body to hold on tight around his broad back.

"Please, Erik, please..." he mutters out loud, the same two words over and over.

Erik kisses him, but slower - he wants to make this last as long as possible, though his body wants to fuck Charles immediately, intensely.

"We have all night."

Charles knows that's the truth, but it doesn't stop his desire from mounting with every second he spends pressed against his lover's body.

"I have no patience when you're here, Erik," he admits.

"We have all night to enjoy each other," Erik says, then grins. "Over and over..."
